TRAILING KIT EXTENDS X-PRESS MARKET
Simba’s new trailing kit for its 4m mounted folding X-Press cultivator will enable this cultivator to be used behind tractors in the 100hp – 130hp power bracket.
The kit comprises a new drawbar, top frame and transport wheels, and adds £4.850 to the model’s £18,984 list price. Purchasers have the further option of either hydraulic or air brakes (additional cost £680 for hydraulic; £1,400 for air).
The 4m folding X-Press was previously only available as a mounted machine, and in that format typically needed to be run behind a tractor of 160hp plus, largely due to its weight.
The 4m X-Press trailing kit made its French show debut
The new kit – available as original build or a retro-fit – will enable the machine to be used by smaller tractors that can pull it perfectly well in work, but struggled to lift it for turning on headlands or transport.
Rob Iddeson, Simba Territory Manager for France, expects the new kit to be very popular in that country:
“The X-Press’s proven ability to perform a swift and effective shallow cultivation and trash mixing is making it a popular machine in France. This new kit will extend that interest to farms where the main cultivations tractor is below 150hp.
“If they had a 140hp – 150hp tractor and wanted to improve the output of non-inversion cultivations they might have to select a 3m mounted X-Press, for which they have an excess of power because it can run behind a tractor of 100hp – 130hp. The alternative would be to buy a big enough tractor (150hp – 160hp) to run a 4.6 trailed X-Press.
“This new kit effectively plugs that gap and enables these farmers to gain the benefit of greater output from minimal extra investment. We expect it to prove especially popular in France, where our market is growing fast, and equally to help solve similar issues for farmers in other export markets as well as in Britain”.
