DTX300 IMPRESSES IN ALL SOILS AND CONDITIONS

Simba’s DTX 300 one-pass cultivator has proved a popular addition to the company’s product range, chalking up 70 sales since its launch at LAMMA 2009.

The DTX300 is a 3m wide linkage mounted cultivator incorporating five of Simba’s Prolift loosening tines ahead of two rows of 500mm discs and a 600mm DD Lite roller. The machine weighs around 2.5 tonnes and needs 200hp – 300hp according to soil type and conditions.

The legs are capable of working to 400mm, which is generally deeper than the company’s existing 3m X-Press and ST Bar. They can be fitted with the full range of ProLift points and wings and are protected against damage by shear bolts. The 500mm diameter disc blades are set in two rows, with a 250mm spacing between those on the same row and a 125mm ‘working spacing’.

Disc blade angle is adjustable via the same system used on the company’s X-Press range, with narrower angles being used when a chopping action is needed or in damp conditions, with wider angles suited to better conditions or to achieve a more thorough trash/soil mixing action.

A rear-mounted DDLite 600mm press, fitted with knife scrapers or optional Aqueel 2 roller, provides consolidation. The implement’s pitch is set via the roller and the linkage, with the working depth of the tines and discs being controlled separately via a locating pin system:

Guy Leversha, Simba’s Sales & Marketing Director, says: “We completed extensive field testing of this machine last autumn, ahead of launch, which included establishing oilseed rape directly off it via an applicator mounted on the machine. Those crops are looking very good this year, which highlights the machine’s ability to create a good seedbed and restore structure and drainage deeper in the soil profile in one pass”.

List price is £19,750. Like other Simba cultivators, the DTX can be fitted with an oilseed rape seeding kit, with the specially designed OSR6 kit costing £6,750 being developed specifically for the machine.
