DTX300 IMPRESSES IN AUTUMN DEMONSTRATIONS

DTX on Lamma stand

Following its successful performance in testing conditions on a variety of soil types during the autumn of 2008, the DTX 300, Simba’s new one-pass cultivator, was launched officially at LAMMA 2009 and proved to be a major attraction on the Simba stand.

The DTX300 is a 3m wide linkage mounted cultivator incorporating two rows of Simba’s Prolift loosening tines capable of working to 400mm, which is generally deeper than the company’s existing 3m X-Press and ST Bar.

Weighing about 2.5 tonnes, it will need 200hp – 300hp, and it has already attracted significant dealer interest, with 80% of 2009’s planned build already pre-ordered before its full commercial launch.

“We have had three models running on different soil types across Britain. Even in this autumn’s testing conditions, they have performed an excellent trash-mixing and cultivating action, and left the seedbed levelled and with drainage restored”, says Guy Leversha, Simba’s Sales and Marketing Director.

“We expect the new model to become a valuable part of the company’s cultivator range and help extend our market”.

The legs, which can be fitted with the full range of ProLift points and wings, are protected against damage by stones etc by shear bolts. The 20 inch diameter disc blades are set in two rows, with a 250mm spacing between those on the same row and a 125mm ‘working spacing’.

Blade angle is adjustable via the same system used on the company’s X-Press range, with narrower angles typically being used where a chopping action is needed or in damp conditions, with wider angles being used in better conditions or to achieve a more thorough trash/soil mixing action.

A rear-mounted DD Lite 600mm press, fitted with knife scrapers or optional Aqueel 2 roller, provides consolidation. The implement’s pitch is set via the roller and the linkage, with the working depth of the tines and discs being controlled separately via a locating pin system.

List price is £19,750. Like other Simba cultivators, the DTX can be fitted with an oilseed rape seeding kit, with the specially designed OSR6 kit costing £6,750 being developed specifically for the machine.
