Band Sowing
The Benefits of Band Sowing
The coulters fitted to the Simba Horsch Airseeders have been developed over 20 years, which places the seed in bands rather than rows, offering improved seed distribution and yield.
The coulter lifts and opens the soil and places the seed on a firm straw free surface. Either following harrows or discs cover the seed and level the drilled area ahead of the rear consolidating tyres. This type of coulter avoids the micro compaction often associated with disc coultered drills and places the seeds within an ideal environment to establish a good root structure in the vital first 40 days of seed germination.
Other Benefits are:
- Increases in yield
- Seed distribution up to 80% of the soil surface
- Improved plant tillering
- Lower draught
- Straw free seed environment with no hairpinning
- Less soil engaging parts
The wider coulter spacing of 25cm improves trash clearance and significantly reduces the power requirements of all Simba Horsch Airseeders, the 4m Sprinter for example only requires 150hp.
