Simba Photo Competition

Competition Rules

  1. The theme for the Simba Photo Competition 2010 is 'Simba at Work'. The theme is open to individual interpretation but entries must feature a working photo of a Simba or Simba Horsch product.
  2. Only one digital photo entry, saved as a JPEG image, allowed per entry. File size should not be less than 1 MB and should not exceed 5 MB.
  3. Only minor image adjustment is permitted, such as cropping, sharpening, contrast, and levels. The photo must not be otherwise greatly manipulated e.g. objects should not be added or removed in order to enhance the shot. The judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe may have been excessively treated so as to alter its authenticity.
  4. The competition is open to all owners of Simba or Simba Horsch equipment. Employees of Simba International Limited, as well as their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.
  5. Professional photographers are not eligible to enter.
  6. Photograph entry to have been taken between 1st August 2010 and the competition closing date.
  7. Photographs will only be entered into the competition when accompanied by a fully completed Official Entry Form (available on the Simba web site at www.simba.co.uk).
  8. Entries can be submitted via email by attaching the image as a JPEG file together with a completed Official Entry Form. Alternatively, your photo entry can be saved to disc or memory stick and posted along with a printed and completed copy of the Official Entry Form to: Simba Photo Competition 2010, Simba International Limited, Woodbridge Road, Sleaford, Lincolnshire NG34 7EW. Any pictures, discs or memory sticks provided as part of any entry will not be returned.
  9. The competition closes at midnight on 31st October 2010.
  10. All entries will be considered by a panel of judges. The judges will select a winning photograph which, in their opinion, best illustrates the theme of the competition. They will consider a range of factors including composition, technical ability, background/setting, originality and correct interpretation of the brief. The winning entrant will receive a pack of Simba merchandise including high quality jacket, gilet, polo shirt and umbrella. The winning photograph will also be published in the 2011 Simba Calendar. The prize is as stated and there is no cash alternative.
  11. The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  12. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries. No children under 16 should be included in any photograph submitted for entry.
  13. Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs that they submit for entry to the competition. However, by entering the competition all entrants grant to Simba International Limited the right to publish their photographs on the Simba website, the 2011 Simba Calendar or as part of any advertising material or marketing literature, either digitally produced or printed, published by Simba International Limited. No fees will be payable for any of the above uses.
  14. The winning entry posted on the Simba web site and included in the 2011 Simba Calendar will credit the photographer. Credits to photographers will not be applied to any photographs submitted to the competition that may be used for any other future Simba advertising or marketing material.
  15. The winning entrant also agrees to take part in any post-competition publicity.
  16. By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and Simba reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if the judges have reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.
