Four types of ring are now available

  • 550mm - the closer 150mm spacing results in improved clod cutting and a finer soil finish, ideal for smaller cultivations.
  • 550mm light - a lighter format of the DD ring, but retaining the levelling and consolidation properties of the larger rings - for light land consolidation and for use with mounted machinery.
  • 600mm - the standard ring for double presses etc, in which arrangement they contact the vast majority of the soil surface, so providing optimum consolidation, levelling and weather-proofing.
  • 700mm - widely used on single presses or behind sub-soilers etc. Their large rolling diameter minimises power requirement, making them ideal as the final pressing element of a wide range of cultivators, sub soilers etc.

Setting the standard for press efficiency

Simba's DD Press Rings set the standard for pressing efficiency and remain unique both in their design (which is patented) and their performance.

The rings have a self-sharpening cutting edge mounted on a broad, carefully angled shoulder. This enables them to cut clods effectively, crushing the parted halves so they disintegrate, while also contacting over 80% of the soil surface so they consolidate and level the seedbed, leaving a ridged, weather-proof surface.

DD Ring

As a result they do not lose their efficiency as cast rings do. In addition, the DD has no spokes so is not so prone to blockages caused by stones kicking up and getting stuck between spokes and pillars etc. Its broad shoulder enables it to run on top of lighter soils and consolidate them, rather than sinking into them as cast rings

DD AssembleyThe rings are formed by placing two shaped chrome boron steel disc blades back to back. These are mounted on an axle and pressurised. This ensures that, as the leading edge wears down, they stay tight and maintain an effective cutting edge.
