High speed, one pass cultivation
A turnbuckle allows quick and easy adjustment of the gang angling. An acute angle ensures that maximum mixing of stubble is achieved in one pass, whereas a shallow angle is often employed to ‘chop down’ ploughing as and when required.
The X-Press is a flexible high-speed one pass cultivator designed to work at up to 100mm deep on stubble or ploughing. The key to this flexibility is the adjustable gang angling meaning that you do not have to accept a compromise when carrying out a specific operation. An acute angle maximises penetration and mixing and the straight angle chops down ploughing.
In both scenarios the X-Press leaves a well-cultivated, level seedbed which is both consolidated and weatherproof.
The range starts with a 2.5m wide mounted machine and goes right up to a 10m trailed machine with a total of 10 different models to choose from. Power requirements are 70hp through to 500hp.
The X-Press features two gangs at 500mm diameter serrated discs running ahead of a single row of Simba’s DD rings either 500mm in diameter on the mounted machines or 700mm on the trailed machines (4.6m and above).
Uniquely among such cultivators the disc gangs on the X-Press can be adjusted from 10-25 degrees. Besides offering flexibility depending on the operation undertaken, this feature is crucial in maintaining consolidationin hard and dry conditions.
If the angling was fixed penetration would be achieved by transferring weight from the rear roller on to the blades, which would result in the seedbed being left loose and open. Instead by increasing the gang angling the machine cuts its way into the soil without compromise to consolidate. Narrow or shallow gang angling would be employed when working down ploughing to avoid turning furrow over again.
Pro-Active disc units are now available on all models of the X-Press to give improved protection against stone damage. The chrome vanadium steel mounts, with a trip height of 130mm, give improved contour following whilst maintaining a consistent depth at high forward speed. The discs on all X-Press are mounted singularly on pro-active disc units. These units offer two important benefits over a rigid mounting. Firstly they offer optimum protection against stone damage cushioning any impact. Secondly they contour follow, for example the drop into the tractor wheelings to ensure a consistent cultivation action. Greasing intervals on these disc units is every 200 hours so downtime through routine maintenance is minimised.
All trailed machines fold hydraulically for transport and a rear drawbar is offered as an option on models up to 6.6m allowing Cambridge Rolls to be towed in tandem. This feature is particularly relevant is the X-Press is fitted with the Simba/Stocks Oilseed Rape Applicator.
The Most recent addition to the X-Press range is the trailing kits, which in effect convert the 4m folding mounted machine into a competitively priced 4m trailed machine.

Additional Features applicable to 8m & 10m models:
- Spring mounted contour following rear roll
- Hydraulic adjustment of gang angle
- Intermeshed levelling boards (option)
- Hydraulic/air brakes (option)
- Walking tandem axle transport wheels!
